There was once a lonely little cabin. Sitting abandoned and forlorn for nearly 2 years, it was quickly deteriorating. The driveway caved in, the mice took over, the basement leaked, the master bedroom had nothing but the outside walls, and the plumbing was shot. But a girl and her hubby saw potential, and after 8 months and a day of foreclosure-red-tape-agony, they finally closed and it was theirs. Like a play-house from her childhood (called a wendy house in the UK), it was a dream come true. The girl and her hubby rescued the lonely cabin, and plan to live happily ever after. Let the fun begin!

Productive Day. Sort Of...

View from my kitchen window this morning!
This morning was just gorgeous!!

Perfect day for a trip to the mountains, and to get some work done.
New gravel on our road!!
Today was only a semi-productive day. I left this morning to go to the cabin, and  tackled a couple of projects. First, I had to rid the cabin of a dead mouse! Ew, so gross. After taking it out, I had to scrub the bathroom floor, light a scented candle, and open the windows. That took a while. As I was working, I heard a huge crash, and a beautiful glass pitcher had tumbled out of a big box that was on the kitchen counter, so I had to clean up all the broken glass. Moving on! Next,  I hung the shelves in the closet. Well, I hung 2 of them. I didn't have enough of the the right size anchors, or screws to attach the third shelf. So next time I'll take the correct ones and complete that project. One more shelf to go!

I also did some unpacking, and organizing in the kitchen.

Carpenter bees are making holes all in the wood of the deck and porch, so they got a good dousing with spray. Ditto the wasp nests and hornets nests that are in every corner of the deck!

The driveway guy came and measured, etc., for the new driveway. They are supposed to start Monday, and be finished within a couple of days.  Woo-hoo!! Then we can get the appliances in.
Driveway, showing the current damage.
My dad went to the cabin today, too, and got most of the work done for the new electrical outlet in the basement utility room. He will finish it when we go back next week.

It was an absolutely beautiful day. Perfect temps (High of 72) and a wonderful breeze. It was really nice to turn off the air and open the windows! The neighbors invited us up to look at their cabin. It was really nice. They've done a lot of neat things, and it has a warm and cozy feel. She also enjoys gardening, so we have something in common! :)

Even tho all the projects I had lined up didn't get completed, it was still a good day. Hey, any day in the mountains is a good day, right? :)
